Sam Woods, born 26/6/1993.  Boston, Lincolnshire.  My machine is a 6 year old  Jawa 500cc laydown. I am an amateur speedway rider, riding mainly for the Southern Track Riders Amateur club, (STR).  I also ride second half meetings, some of them academy meetings for Mildenhall, Kings Lynn, and Scunthorpe.
I started riding with the STR in July 2008 and since then I have come on in leaps and bounds, I have been awarded "Rider of the Meeting", became one half of  2008 Novice Pairs Champions, came second in the 2008 novice individual championship, ( losing by 1 point. ). At the start of this season '09 they moved me up to the intermediate class and I have won the first two rounds of this years championship series that STR are running and during the non-championship rounds I ride in the open class, this is to help me improve my riding ability as some of the open riders have ridden for teams in the National League.
During the winter time when the STR club stopped for the season, I kept riding by entering the Winter Championship Series at Scunthorpe in the Support Class, finishing third over-all. I am now riding in the support class in the Summer Championships at Scunthorpe, currently lying third after two rounds.

My mechanic:- is my Dad (Martyn Woods).
 
My ambition:- is to ride for an Elite League Team and eventually become good enough to ride in the World Championship Rounds.
 
My hobbies and interests:- Riding and working on my speedway bike
